Researcher biography

Dr Ajay Kevat is a Respiratory and Sleep Paediatrician at the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Queensland Children’s Hospital, and a Senior Lecturer at the Children’s Health Queensland Clinical Unit., Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences at The University of Queensland. He completed training in Paediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and General Paediatrics through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and undertook a clinical fellowship in respiratory medicine at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.

Dr Kevat holds subspecialty expertise in multidisciplinary tracheostomy and home ventilation, complex asthma care, and has also worked as a Respiratory Staff Specialist across major Australian hospitals. His research focuses on healthcare technology and innovation, with a recent emphasis on artificial intelligence in paediatric respiratory and sleep medicine. He has been awarded a Master of Medicine for research into digital stethoscope technology in infant resuscitation and has published over twenty peer-reviewed articles. Dr Kevat is a former member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand Clinical Care and Resources Subcommittee, Co-Chair of the TSANZ Paediatric Severe Asthma Registry Working Party, and Co-Chair of the Paediatric Council of the Australasian Sleep Association.
