About Our Research

An unexpected traumatic injury or illness which places a child in a hospital emergency unit can cause overwhelming distress and shock to a family. Throughout this difficult time, it is the job of the medical team to compassionately and professionally provide their child with the most effective and up-to-date treatment available. The multidisciplinary medical research in our theme focuses on the causes and predisposing factors for children with trauma and critical illness, validating and optimising available treatments and developing innovative and effective new treatments for seriously ill children. Our goal is to get children and families through these often tragic circumstances and life-changing situations because all children deserve to live a happy and healthy life.
